If something comes easy or happens fast, it usually doesn’t mean as much when you accomplish it.

When people ask me what my best accomplishment in CrossFit was, most assume it was winning the Games in 2008.

But honestly, it was getting back on the podium in 2013.

In 2008 I had trained hard and put in the work, but I was still pretty early in my journey. I had really only been fully committed to that path for about a year.

Then came the years after.

A lot of competing.
A lot of events.
A lot of times where I didn’t make it back on the podium.

So when 2013 finally came around and I got back there, it meant way more. And the interesting part is that it wasn’t even first place. It was second.

But by that point there had been years of work, sacrifice, frustration, and staying committed even when the result wasn’t showing up right away. All of that made that moment something I’ll remember forever.

This carries over to a lot of things in life.

Most of us have something we want to achieve, and ideally we’d love for it to happen tomorrow. But the reality is that the things that matter usually take longer than we’d like.

Instead of looking for instant success tomorrow, the focus has to stay on the work in front of us today. Showing up. Staying consistent. Not getting distracted or discouraged when results don’t happen right away.

When you finally get where you’re trying to go, it’ll mean a lot more knowing you stayed the course.

So if you’ve been putting in the work in the gym for a week, a month, or even longer and you’re not seeing everything you want yet, don’t get discouraged.

Just keep showing up. Have patience. Know that it will all be worth it.

Consistency has a way of paying off if you give it enough time.

Keep training hard.
